tarsier.org is . . .
a small, science-based conservation organization dedicated not merely to conservation of tarsiers, but more towards understanding tarsiers’ role in preserving biodiversity. Thus, through the scientific study of tarsiers, we facilitate tarsiers’ role as flagship species to promote awareness and as umbrella species to protect the myriad other species that live in and around tarsiers. By protecting tarsier habitat, we help to preserve all of the other species that live side-by-side with tarsiers.
tarsier.org began . . .
after Myron Shekelle spent 15 years conducting research on tarsiers and wanted a way to conduct tarsier research and implement tarsier-based conservation programs more efficiently and effectively. Thus, this organization is a continuation of that time and effort.
